National University Dasmarinas, through the UNISERVE platform, is committed to full compliance with **Republic Act No. 10173**, also known as the **Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA)**, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).
Institutional Commitment
As a Personal Information Controller (PIC), the University recognizes the importance of protecting the fundamental right to privacy and communication. UNISERVE is designed with "Privacy by Design" principles to ensure that personal data processed within the platform is handled with utmost care and legal integrity.
The Five Pillars of DPA Compliance at UNISERVE
1. Governance
Appointment of a dedicated Data Protection Officer (DPO) and establishment of a Data Privacy Management Program within the University.
2. Risk Assessment
Conducting regular Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) for the UNISERVE platform to identify and mitigate potential risks to data subjects.
3. Policy Framework
Implementation of strict data privacy policies, including access control, data breach management, and data disposal protocols.
4. Data Security Measures
Deployment of industry-standard technical security (encryption, SSL, firewall) and physical security measures to safeguard the database.
5. Breach Management
Establishment of a Data Breach Response Team and protocols for timely notification to the National Privacy Commission (NPC) and affected data subjects.
Inquiries and Complaints
In compliance with the DPA, any data subject who believes that their personal data has been misused, maliciously disclosed, or improperly disposed of, or that any of their data privacy rights have been violated, has the right to file a complaint with our Data Protection Officer at dpo@dasmarinas.nu.edu.ph.
